Historic Detroit

Every building in Detroit has a story — we're here to share it

Dreamtroit

Dreamtroit occupies the former Warren Motor Car Company Factory at 1331 Holden Street, a historic complex of five automotive manufacturing buildings constructed between 1910 and 1917 and designed by Detroit architects Rogers and McFarland. Originally built for the Warren Motor Car Company, the factory later became part of the Lincoln Motor Company and eventually Ford Motor Company, reflecting Detroit’s early automotive history.

The long-vacant industrial buildings were recently transformed into Dreamtroit, a mixed-use redevelopment combining affordable housing, artist studios, and commercial space. Supported in part by Historic Tax Credits, the rehabilitation restored masonry facades, historic windows, and key interior architectural features while preserving the site’s industrial character. Today, Dreamtroit has become a creative hub that blends historic preservation with affordable living and cultural development, helping drive new energy and investment into Detroit’s Northwest Goldberg neighborhood.
