Historic Detroit

Every building in Detroit has a story — we're here to share it

680 Virginia Park (Carl H. Schroeder House)

The house at 680 Virginia Park Street was designed by George V. Pottle and built in 1909. The brick residence is part of the Virginia Park Historic District, reflecting the neighborhood's development as an upscale residential enclave in the early 20th century. In the 1970s and 1980s, the property served as a Detroit Transit Alternatives youth shelter, providing temporary housing and support services for young people. It later served as an office before returning to residential use.
