Historic Detroit

Every building in Detroit has a story — we're here to share it

Paul Philippe Cret (Oct. 23, 1876 - Sept. 8, 1945)

The French-American architect designed the Detroit Institute of Arts. It should be noted that some sites, including Wikipedia, say his birthdate was Oct. 24, 1876. This is why Wikipedia is not a trustworthy source of information. His headstone CLEARLY says Oct. 23, 1876-Sept. 8, 1945.

He is buried at Woodlands Cemetery in Philadelphia. He was an architectural professor at the University of Pennsylvania Design for many years.
