Historic Detroit

Every building in Detroit has a story — we're here to share it

Andrew Jackson Intermediate

Andrew Jackson Intermediate, designed by B.C. Wetzel & Co. and completed in 1928, has a unique design with orange brick and many decorative features. It was dedicated on Oct 2, 1931.

It later became Ronald McNair Tchnical Middle School, focusing on technology.

Despite efforts to revitalize it, declining enrollment led to closure in 2009. After serving briefly as a temporary home for Finney High School, the vacant building was left abandoned in 2012 and damaged by scrappers soon thereafter.
